A Time Too Short

And with the pass of His hand,
An allotted place and time were given

Except for the cry of a newborn
- No celebration was joined -

But this soul was given a presence,
That we might share a time together

And to each of us who knew her name,
- She was different -

To one a daughter, to one a kindred sister,
To one a wife and to another a trusted friend

But to all who remain, that knew her name,
“it was a time too short”

                                         THIS

(Written for the passing of my cousin Lenny, but I
believe he would approve of this adaptation for Chris)
