Thirty Two and You

I was thirty two, and you,
You were just you

I thought I knew of love and life,
After all - I’d had a wife

How could you love me old and straight?
And what of your age, I really couldn’t wait

You asked little in that precious season,
You didn’t search for justification or reason

We lived and loved each day and night,
And never questioned wrong or right

And when I finally found the truth,
And that precious season through,

I was older, sadder and wiser,
and you, you were still you
