Return to the Sea

The Lord in His wisdom made the sea,
for lovers and fools such as me

We strolled in love’s fantasy, hand in hand
our foot prints on the eternal sand

Pledging our love for evermore,
swearing allegiance, on the eternal shore

Time had no meaning by the sea,
the world was only – you and me –

Each sunny day and black velvet night,
we reveled in love’s delight

And in naïve fantasy, we did pretend,
the blessing of our love, would never end

And then one day, when the sea was far away
you forgot the promises given that day

And so alone I return, to the timeless sea,
in search of loves great mystery

But the sands give no reason why -
and the moaning of the waves hides my cry

Now in wretched agony – I stand
in solitude, on life’s shifting sand
